Made to a pattern taken directly directly from Yarmouth Oilskins archive this updated recreation uses a modern lightweight wax not available when it was originally created but perfectly suited. Advantages of the modern fabric are that it’s hand washable with a wonderful soft tumbled finish and a gently aged appearance. The patina will develop over time and just get better and better. The Hooded Smock is unlined, with an internal draw cord, and a sturdy brass zip. It has generous deep welt pockets with a buttoned storm flap, and a three piece hood . Originally worn by seafarers and fishermen as a loose over garment to protect their knitted sweater, these garments were traditionally made from hardwearing cotton sailcloth.
The Classic Smock from Yarmouth Stores has an open neck and two pockets, made in 100% cotton twill and with contrast taped vents and cuffs treatment. Garment washing gives a pre-worn look and feel and a ‘lived in’ touch.Made in Great Yarmouth, Great Britain
